The truth is that while males over the age of six are being ENCOURAGED to fight on behalf of Iraq, it is NOT by any means compulsory! Potential recruits are given a choice: Join the valiant struggle to repel the invaders, or my security forces will shoot your entire family, your neighbors, the people in your email address book, your goats, and that cute little puppy you bought the kids because they absolutely promised to take care it themselves but of course don't.

So as you can see, it's complete freedom of choice!
